A great pleasure to present certificates of British Citizenship this afternoon. A lovely setting in the Council Chamber for such an important event, and good to chat before & after the ceremony about life in Cambridgeshire. Thanks to all in the Register team

YOPEY Befriendship, Huntingdon
Seven teenagers were presented with certificates and rewards by the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, Bharat Khetani. Dr Khetani, a retired GP, said he was “extremely delighted to see youngsters engaged in such a worthwhile activity befriending lonely residents, many with declining cognitive function”.

Renal Unit, Peterborough City Hospital
I met with Sandra Currie, Chief Execitive of Kidney Research UK to view the expanding facilities of the dialysis unit at the hospital. Interestingly the unit is named after Dr. Mistry - a 3 year senior contemporary of mine at St Mary's Medical School.

Crown Court, Cambridge
It was a privalage to witness the swearing in of new Crime and Family Magistrates. Magistrates and tribunal members take two oaths when they are sworn in. The first is the oath of allegiance to the reigning monarch, and the second the judicial oath; these are collectively referred to as the judicial oath.
